It was founded in 1984 as the Vellore Engineering College the self-financing institution. It was established under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956. The Vellore Engineering Colleges conferred University status in 2001 by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development. The University is headed by its founder and Chancellor, Dr. G. Viswanathan, a former Parliamentarian and Minister in the Tamil Nadu Government.
In recognition of his service to India in offering world class education, he was conferred an honorary doctorate by the West Virginia University, USA. Sankar Viswanathan, Sekar Viswanathan and G.V. Selvam are the Vice-Presidents; Dr. Anand A. Samuel is the Vice-Chancellor and Dr. V. Raju and Dr. S. Narayanan are the Pro-Vice-Chancellors.
VIT Engineering Entrance Examination will be conducted from 05.04.2017 to 16.04.2017
The duration of the entrance examination will be of 2 hours 30 minutes.
Exam will be conducted 3 sessions per day.
Exam Timings (IST): I session - 9.00 am - 11.30 am / II session - 12.30 pm - 3 .00 pm / III session - 4.00 pm - 6 .30 pm
Number of examination days in a particular centre is based on the total number of application registered in that centre.
